Plans for a Black Country town to have its won parish council have been overwhelmingly rejected in a referendum of people living in the area.
The people of Cradley have voted 83-17 against Liberal Democrat proposals to create a parish council in the town after Dudley Council agreed to carry out a public consultation.

Extra cost was cited as the biggest reason for the public rejecting a new tier of local government for the town, which would have seen a precept added onto the council tax bill to cover its administration costs.
Councillor Ryan Priest, who had put forward the proposals, said he accepted the results of the poll and would not be pursuing the idea any further.
