Controversial plans for a temporary travellers site in Coseley will be scrutinised at a meeting next month.

Dudley Council announced earlier this month that they would press ahead with building the site off Budden Road – almost a year after it was shelved by the previous ruling authority.

The Conservative-run authority confirmed the £300,000 work will start within weeks at the site in Budden Road.

But Labour councillors sitting on the council's place scrutiny committee have called in the decision – over concerns that the site had already been considered and rejected.

The matter will be discussed at a committee meeting at Dudley Council House, in Priory Road, on February 5, from 5pm.

Dudley Council's leader, Patrick Harley, said: "It is important that all decisions are open to proper scrutiny.

"Elected members of all parties will be able to have their say on this important decision.”
