Firefighters called out after bus catches fire in Brierley Hill

Firefighters were called out after a bus caught fire in Brierley Hill this afternoon.

West Midlands Fire Service have confirmed that an incident in Tiled House Lane, Brierley Hill, was caused by a bus being ablaze. 

The fire service was called to the incident at around 2.30pm.

Two fire engines attended the blaze, with firefighters quickly working to extinguish the flames. The fire was confirmed to have been doused at 4.30pm.

One mother, Liz Barltrop, whose daughter was on the bus at the time of the incident, said: "My daughter was on this bus and there was smoke filling the bus from under the back seats."

National Express West Midlands said at the time of the incident: "Incident on Tiled House Lane, Brierley Hill.

"Service 15 will be diverting in both directions via: Bromley.

"Apologies for any disruption to your journey."

The incident has since been marked as clear, with Tiled House Lane reopening.
