Regulators could pursue further sanctions against unscrupulous care providers who swindled elderly victims at Brierley Hill care home
A Brierley Hill care home fraud case could lead to tougher regulations concerning vulnerable pensioners and their last will and testaments.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) revealed that last week's verdicts at Wolverhampton Crown Court could lead to the organisation pursuing further regulatory action against Amberley Care Home.
The three-week fraud trial of Lyn and Graham Walker, the former owners of Amberley Care Home in Brierley Hill, and Jamiel Slaney-Summers, the former manager, highlighted how the estates of elderly homeowners can be exploited by wrongdoers.
Rita Barnsley, 85, was quickly isolated after moving into the home in May 2020 and within months her savings were being plundered. Before her death in August 2021 she had signed a new will benefiting owners and staff at the home.
