Peaky Blinders Day: Everything you need to know for event at Brierley Hill Market
Here's everything you need to know to dress the part and step back through time at Brierley Hill Market's Peaky Blinders Day event.
Brierley Hill Market Hall is gearing up as it prepares to host a Peaky Blinders Day event this weekend.
The event on Saturday (September 20) will see hundreds don their flat caps, suits and dresses as they take to the market to revel in true 1920s glamour.
It has been arranged as part of the national Heritage Open Days festival, which sees thousands of volunteers across England organise free events each September to showcase the country's rich history and culture.
The organisers of the event invited everyone to dress in their best 1920s fashion while attending; however, while costumes are optional, 'smiles are guaranteed'.
The Heritage Open Days website says: "Brierley Hill Market once again channels its inner 1920s swagger with a full-throttle Peaky Blinders-themed day, blending heritage with entertainment, fashion, and fun.
"It's a highlight of the town’s Heritage Open Day — and always draws a lively crowd."
The event will feature a range of entertainment, including live performances from Gatsby dancers, vintage singer Venessa Lee, and a guest appearance by the dapper Sadlers Peaky Blinders group.
As well as music and dancing, visitors can also wander the stalls to find a bargain, and also meet traders and explore the rich history of how the market shaped the working lives of ordinary people.
Organiser Tim Sunter said: "We’re thrilled that so many people have already booked for the walks and ringing. But the heart of Heritage Open Day is exploring the town as a whole — and there is so much more to see and do.
"Whether it’s Peaky Blinders at the market, organ recitals at St Mary’s, or hands-on activities at the college, there really is something for everyone."
The event runs from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, and is free to attend for all.
