Dudley's Labour opposition calls for 10 anti-social behaviour officers and 10 new youth workers, and new tip access

Members of Dudley Council will tonight be asked to approve another 4.99 per cent rise in the council tax - the fourth year in a row that the council tax has risen by the maximum amount allowed by law, without holding a referendum.

The Conservative-led council's proposed budget, which will see the average band D tax rise to £2,144.85 a year, will see the reintroduction of two hours' free parking in town centres, and the restoration of the 'pop-up tip' service serving the north of the borough.

But the Labour opposition group has tabled an amendment calling for a number of extra spending commitments, which the group says would be funded by one-off reductions to reserves.
