Dudley Council run leisure and waste services hit by Storm Goretti
Storm Goretti has blown through and left disruption to a number of Dudley Council services in its wake.
The authority has announced closures to leisure centres due to adverse weather associated with the storm.

Sites affected are: Halesowen Leisure Centre, Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge, Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre in Dudley and the Dell Stadium in Brierley Hill.
Notes published on the council’s website said: “The safety of our customers and staff remains our priority.
“Opening times and scheduled programming will be affected at all locations. These disruptions will be ongoing for the duration of Storm Goretti and may change at short notice.
“Updates will be provided as the situation changes.”
Customers are being advised to follow social media and the DBleisure website for further information.
Bin collections have also been suspended by the council in the aftermath of snowfalls and freezing conditions across the borough to protect the safety of crews.
The council says waste and recycling rounds will be suspended today (January 9) while the Household Waste Recycling Centre (tip) in Stourbridge is closed until noon when conditions will be reviewed.
The council said: “Residents are advised to leave their bins and recycling at the kerbside and we will collect as soon as it is safe to do so. Further updates about collections will be provided in due course.
“Residents can continue to make any service requests through MyDudley at any time and as always we would ask people to monitor weather forecasts, plan ahead of any journeys and drive to the conditions.”
Speaking yesterday (January 8) ahead of the arrival of the storm Cllr Simon Phipps, Dudley cabinet member for economy and infrastructure, said: “We are continuing to monitor weather forecasts around the clock, with an amber weather warning in place for the next 24 hours as storm Goretti approaches.
“The council has a plan in place for if the weather should impact the borough, and we are ready to work closely with emergency services if this is needed.
“Our gritting crews were out in force last night and will be out again this afternoon and tonight, with ploughs on standby for if there is any accumulation of snow.
“We currently have more than 750 tonnes of grit salt in stock and, as always, we will continue to monitor and replenish this as needed.”
