Dudley academy deploys minibus to support families during severe weather conditions
Beacon Hill Academy has stepped up to support local families during severe snow and icy conditions by deploying its minibus to collect learners safely from their homes.
As several schools across the West Midlands were forced to close due to the weather earlier this week, Beacon Hill Academy in Dudley made the decision to remain open and provide transport for learners who required additional support in getting to school.
Collections on the minibus, known as the DATmobile (Dudley Academy Trust mobile), began early on Monday, January 6 morning from 8am, as heavy snowfall made travel challenging for many families.

Mr Dhami, Principal of Beacon Hill Academy, said: “The safety and education of our learners are always our highest priorities.
"During challenging conditions like these, it is vital that we work closely with families to keep the school open wherever it is safe to do so. By supporting parents/carers who need to work and ensuring learners can access a high-quality education in a secure environment, we continue to put the needs of our community first.”
The school has confirmed it will be open as normal today (Wednesday, January 7).
