For almost 30 years Aminur Rahman, owner of Le Raj Indian Restaurant in Gornal Wood, Dudley, has given out food parcels or cooked meals for a range of good causes over the festive period.

And this year is no exception, as the community-spirited owner of the Louise Street restaurant has donated boxes and stockings filled with cans of essential groceries to his local food bank.

Mr Rahman delivered the items yesterday (TUES) to the nearby Zoar Chapel for its Community Grocery Store.

He said: "Each Christmas, I like to help others in the Gornal Wood area who may be struggling and I hope this food can help make this special time of year a little easier for them."

Pete Wright, Pastor of Springs Church which meets at Zoar Chapel, said he was extremely grateful for the donation.

He said: "We are currently serving dozens of families per week who are struggling with the rising costs of food. This donation is much appreciated and will go directly to helping people in need in our immediate community."
