Dudley councillors will finally debate flying the Black Country flag next week

A debate on whether the Black Country flag should be flown from public buildings will finally take place next week, after time ran out at a meeting last month.

Members of Dudley Council will be asked to vote on a motion tabled by Councillor Pete Lowe, leader of the recently formed Black Country Party. He put forward the motion in response to Reform UK's decision that only the Union Jack and St George's cross should be flown from public buildings belonging to councils it controlled.

The party later amended its directive to allow the flying of county flags.

The motion was due to have been debated at the previous meeting of the council on October 20, but a lengthy agenda meant that time ran out.

However, it will be the first motion on the agenda at Monday night's meeting (December 1), so a vote should be guaranteed.
