Exclusive new aerial pictures show progress on Dudley's new £24 million bus and tram station
These latest pictures show how work is gathering pace on Dudley's £24 million new bus and tram station, which is due to open next spring.
The frame of the two-storey building is now in place, with the ground levelled ahead of surfacing work for the new bus bays. The tram line which will connect to the new bus terminal is already in place, ahead of its opening at the start of the new year.

Planning permission for the new bus station was first granted in 2019, but that was followed by a lengthy legal wrangle with grocery chain FarmFoods, which had a store on part of the site.
Work eventually began in January last year, after Dudley Council had begun compulsory purchase order proceedings, and the new station was originally due to have opened this year.

However, like the tram line, which will link up with the existing West Midlands Metro tramline at Wednesbury, the project has been beset with delays. But our new pictures, taken from the air by Express & Star ace photographer Tim Thursfield, show the main superstructure now in place, suggesting it looks likely to be open by spring next year.

The station, which is being built by Taylor Woodrow on behalf of Transport for West Midlands, will include an indoor waiting area for passengers. It replaces the previous bus station, which opened in 1986 and was described by transport chiefs as outdated and unfit for modern needs.
