Tributes and flowers lay at scene of triple fatal road crash in Upper Gornal
Wellwishers have been leaving floral tributes and heartfelt messages at the scene of a crash in Upper Gornal which resulted in the deaths of three men in their 20s.
The crash victims, two aged 22 and another aged 28, died following the three-vehicle crash at the junction of Highgate Street and Clarence Street, Upper Gornal, on Wednesday morning (August 6).
They have not yet been named. The road was closed and a Midlands Air Ambulance helicopter crew was among emergency service personnel who attended the scene at about 7.30am.
One of the 22-year-olds and the 28-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene. The second 22-year-old man was rushed to hospital following the crash and died afterwards despite efforts to save him.





Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from West Midlands Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is a truly awful tragedy and our thoughts remain with loved ones of all those affected.
“Specialist family liaison officers are continuing to supporting them at this most dreadful time. Investigations are progressing and we'd urge people not to speculate on the circumstances.



“If anyone has any information about the collision or any footage of the collision or the vehicles beforehand, I would ask them to get in touch with us.”
