Police Dog (PD) Ray helped make two arrests in the Dudley region last night, in a particularly active night on the job.

In one arrest, an offender was spotted decamping from a moped in an attempt to run from West Midlands Police's traffic team, using his high-powered nose. PD Ray tracked and found the suspected criminal hiding in some bushes.

In a second incident, officers were en route to an alarm when another offender decamped from a motorcycle; however, they were again no match for PD Ray, who tracked their scent to find them hiding behind a nearby fence.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "PD Ray had two arrests in Dudley last night. First offender decamps from a moped and runs from the West Midlands Police. Ray tracks, finds and detains him hiding in the bushes.

"Second job, when on route to an alarm, an offender decamps from a motorcycle. Ray tracks and finds him hiding behind a fence."

West Midlands Police have been approached for more information.
