The works were set to see the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway close for five days.

But heavy rain forecast for next week, means the delayed works have had to be put off again.

Bridgnorth Cliff Railway chairman, Dr Malvern Tipping, said rain has been forecast for Bridgnorth for several days next week.

"Next week’s weather forecast means that the closure for concreting has been postponed," he said. "I am told that it is forecast to rain in Bridgnorth for four days next week, during which days the work could not be undertaken, as the conditions would be too slippery for the sub-contractors. That would raise safety issues for them.

"As a result, the cliff railway will remain open next week."

He added that the works will now be rescheduled for either the end of February or the beginning of March, subject to weather conditions.
