Sutton Coldfield set to welcome UK's first balloon Christmas tree in aid of West Midlands charities - here is how to get involved

Sutton Coldfield will soon welcome a truly unique festive attraction — a giant Balloon Christmas Tree, made from 100,000 balloons and enclosed inside a huge snow globe.

The display will be unveiled at Moor Hall Hotel & Spa in Sutton Coldfield and open to the public from 29 November 2025 to 6 January 2026.

Created by Balloon Colour Blending Ltd, the project hopes to raise £100,000 for ten charities, including The Luca Foundation, Acorns Children’s Hospice, Smile for Joel, Kids Village, Buddy Bag Foundation, Tabor Living, KIDS, Black Country Women’s Aid, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham’s Charity, and Help Harry Help Others.

Everyone can take part by buying balloons to help build the tree:

  • £2.50 for a single balloon

  • £10 for a memorial balloon in memory of a loved one

  • £120 for a business pack (25 balloons and a branded bauble on the tree)

Balloons bought before 24 November also include entry into a prize draw to win an overnight stay or afternoon tea for two at Moor Hall Hotel.

This is the first time a project like this has been attempted in the UK. Expert balloon artists will design special frameworks and patterns to bring the idea to life inside a purpose-built globe.

The project is also eco-friendly — the balloons are 95% biodegradable, and the frame and globe are reusable.

Organisers hope the tree will bring the community together, with volunteers, families, schools and businesses all helping to build it.

The idea came from Nadine, business partner of Naomi Spencer, who has worked in the balloon industry for 16 years. Naomi began her career with help from The Prince’s Trust (now The King’s Trust) and has since become an award-winning ambassador for young entrepreneurs.

Naomi said: “This has never been done in the UK before – people don’t yet understand the scale of what a Balloon Christmas Tree really is.

“We’re bringing together 100,000 biodegradable balloons, precision frames and a bespoke snow globe to create something magical that unites communities while supporting incredible charities.”
