The police said that the man was part of a construction team, and had merely 'picked up a pair of scissors' found outside Waseley Hills High School.

West Mercia Police have updated the Express & Star about the incident.

They said: "We received a call around 7.15am this morning (Monday 23 March) with a report of man with a knife walking into Waseley Hills High School in Rubery.

"Officers were deployed to the area, the man was located and it was established he had picked up a pair of scissors found outside the school, and it was clear that there was no malicious intent and he is part of the construction team working on the school grounds."

Earlier today, the school was closed, in an email sent to parents, Mr Preston of Waseley Hills High School said: “We have been advised by police that due to an ongoing incident we need to close the school - we’ll update as soon as possible.”

Many speculated on Facebook as to what the incident perhaps might be earlier in the day.
