Two of four lanes closed on M6 after HGV fire near Birmingham
A HGV fire has caused heavy traffic on the M6 southbound near Birmingham.
National Highways West Midlands has warned that two lanes of four on the M6 have been closed on the M6 following a fire involving an HGV.
The highways authority reported the incident at 7.51am today (February 20) warning of delays between Junctions 6 (Birmingham) and Junction 5 (Castle Bromwich).

National Highways West Midlands spokesperson said: "Two of four lanes are closed on the M6 southbound in the West Midlands, between J6 (Birmingham) and J5 (Castle Bromwich).
"This is due to an HGV fire. West Midlands Police are on the scene. National Highways traffic officers are assisting with traffic management.
"Expect delays."
A picture from the scene shows smoke rising from a vehicle on the M6, with emergency services, including West Midlands Fire Service, being seen operating in the area.
Emergency services have been approached for more information.
