'Major' rail disruption as Birmingham lines suspended due to fault

Delays are being reported across Birmingham lines due to a 'points failure'.

A 'points failure' at Birmingham New Street has led to significant delays across the rail network this morning, including some delays in Wolverhampton.

The disruptions were reported following a 'points failure' between Tring and Watford Junction, with London Northwestern Railway warning that some services out of London Euston may be 'cancelled or delayed'.

In an update posted at 5.21am this morning, London Northwestern Railway confirmed the 'points failure', with lines in Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton being affected. 

The rail operator said: "Points failure between Tring and Watford. Services may be cancelled or delayed into/out of London Euston."

  • Stockport

  • Holyhead
