What Is the Birmingham International Tattoo?

Contrary to what the name might suggest to some, the 'Tattoo' here isn’t about body art — it’s a military tattoo, a long-standing tradition that dates back to the 17th century and refers to a performance of music and display by military bands and units.

The Birmingham International Tattoo is regarded as Britain’s biggest indoor tattoo, combining marching bands, pipes and drums, standard bearers, field gun racing, dog displays, dance teams and much more in a spectacular show of precision, pageantry and ceremony.

When and Where It Takes Place

The 2026 event is scheduled to take place at bp pulse LIVE — the venue formerly known as the Resorts World Arena, on the NEC campus in Birmingham. There are two performances: on Saturday, February 14 at 6pm and Sunday, February 15 at 2pm.
