Emergency services respond to M6 crash near Birmingham

Delays of up to 30 minutes and around three miles of congestion were reported on the M6 following a crash this morning (Tuesday).

National Highways West Midlands warned of heavy delays following a crash on the M6 near Birmingham.

The roads authority warned of the delays at 9.21am this morning, saying that one lane of four of the M6 northbound was closed between Junction 4a (M42) and Junction 5 (Castle Bromwich).

Emergency services are reported to be on the scene, as well as National Highways traffic officers. 

The authority warned of 30-minute delays as a result of the crash, and 3.5 miles of congestion. 

West Midlands Roads also warned of disruption due to the incident. 

A roads spokesperson said: "The M6 northbound between Junction 4 and Junction 4a.

"Congestion due to a lane closure."

West Midlands Roads said that the earlier disruption has since cleared, with traffic now flowing normally.

A spokesperson said: "The earlier disruption has now been cleared, traffic is flowing normally in the area."

Emergency services have been approached for further information.
