'Underweight' dog rescued from hazardous West Midlands drugs den seeks loving home after miraculous recovery
A severely underweight dog rescued from a drugs den in the West Midlands has now recovered and is looking for a new loving home.
Bella, a Cane Corse-type dog, was rescued by the RSPCA's animal rescue officer, Cara Gibbon, when she responded to a call to the RSPCA's cruelty line in July.
The call related to concerns for the welfare of a dog living in poor conditions at a property in Birmingham.

Cara found Bella, who was seen to be underweight, with her ribs and spine visible.
There was no dog food apparent in the property, and the environment was unsuitable fora pet with many hazards, including what appeared to be drug paraphernalia scattered around the floor.
West Midlands Police attended to take possession of the 'gentle giant' and placed her into RSPCA care so he could be taken to the RSPCA's Newbrook Animal Hospital.
Bella, aged three, needed to regain weight as she was painfully thin and her health was at risk.

She was put on a strict food plan at the hospital to help her increase her weight safely, where staff were also able to monitor her progress.
After much-needed care and the food she desperately needed, Bella was back up to a healthy weight, where she was then transferred to RSPCA Southridge Animal Centre in Hertfordshire and is now looking for her perfect home.
Cara said: "It was a difficult case to deal with.

"I could see the poor dog was really in need of help as she was so thin for her size, and she just seemed so sad at the property.
"It was not a suitable place for her to be living at all - with all sorts of dangers present scattered across the floor - with lots of drugs, needles, and other hazards.
"Fortunately, with the help of the police, I was able to take her to safety out of the house and to Birmingham Animal Hospital for treatment.

"Bella seemed so grateful I had taken her out of the property and was just so happy with me. She also gave me lots of nuzzles at the hospital and was soon eating well and enjoying all things dogs love, like playing and socialising.
"She is a proper big softie with lots of love to give and is super affectionate, and I am so keen she finds her new home and gets the love she really deserves.
"She loves getting her harness on and going for a walk and is an all-around bundle of fun who loves her treats!"
