'We are working with rally organisers marking anniversary of father shot by officer at Christmas' - police
West Mercia Police said it was working with organisers of a rally being held to mark the first anniversary of the shooting of a father-of-two.
The family of 39-year-old Marcus Meade are organising a rally to be held at the gates of the force's Worcestershire headquarters to mark the anniversary and to renew their calls for "accountability, transparency and justice" relating to their concerns over the reasons why he was shot dead by an armed officer in his Redditch home on December 24 last year.
Mr Meade was said to be undergoing a mental crisis when the incident happened during a welfare check.
The force stated: "We are aware of a planned protest due to take place at Hindlip Hall in Hindlip on December 22. The public have a right to peaceful protest and we are working with the event organisers to ensure a safe gathering for those attending.
"We continue to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Marcus Meade as we approach the first anniversary of his death.

"Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic incident. The Independent Office for Police Conduct continues to carry out an independent investigation, and it would not be appropriate for us to comment further at this time; however, we will do so when we are able."
More than 2,000 supporters have put their names to the Justice for Marcus Meade Campaign's Change.org petition calling for the officer's suspension.
