More police officers on patrol in Birmingham city centre after 17-year-old boy stabbed
West Midlands Police will have more officers than usual in Birmingham city centre following disorder in the area.
Officers were called to Queen Street shortly after 5pm on Sunday, October 5, where a boy aged 17 had received a stab injury to his arm.
He was taken to hospital, and thankfully his injury is not life-threatening.
Police say their investigation is 'progressing,' as they continue to review CCTV from around the area to establish exactly what happened.
At this stage, police believe a group of around ten males were involved, and were seen leaving the scene afterwards.
A dispersal order remains in place until Monday, October 6 evening, allowing police to move on people they believe are contributing to anti-social behaviour or crime.
Extra resources will be in place in the city centre on Monday afternoon and evening, including high-visibility patrols.
As the police investigation continues, anyone with information should call 101 quoting crime reference number 20/399529/25.
You can also stay completely anonymous by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 – telling them what you know, not who you are.
