Tammy Morris, 36, passed away suddenly in August 2025, leaving husband Steve -  a binman who is among those on strike amid a long-running dispute with Birmingham Council - heartbroken.

Prior to her death she had been a committed fundraiser for those on strike, and set up a GoFundMe of her own to raise much-needed funds for strikers.

The fundraiser aiming to cover Tammy's funeral costs was set up by Matt Reid, and said: " We are deeply saddened to share the heart-breaking news that Unite member and Birmingham Bin Worker Steve Morris has suddenly lost his beloved wife, Tammy Morris.

"Her passing has come as a huge shock to all who knew her, and our thoughts are with Steve and his family at this incredibly difficult time.

"Many friends, colleagues, and members of the Union have reached out asking how they can help.

"We have set up this page to provide support for Steve and his family as they navigate the days and weeks ahead.

"All donations will go directly towards easing the financial burden during this period – whether to help with funeral costs, household needs, or simply to give the family space to grieve without additional worries.

"Any contribution, no matter the size, will mean so much. It will not only provide practical help, but also show Steve that he is surrounded by love, care, and solidarity."
