Bollywood star's visit to the West Midlands visit prompts major road closure - here's where and when

Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor will be visiting the West Midlands for the opening of a new gold and diamond showroom - and she's literally stopping the traffic

West Midlands Roads has warned that Soho Road, between Rookery Road and Boulton Road, Birmingham, will be closed during the visit of Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor. 

The actress will visit Birmingham for the opening of Soho Road's new Malabar Gold and Diamonds showroom, where she will also perform for visitors.

The road is to be closed between 1pm and 4pm, as thousands are expected to gather at the Birmingham jewellery outlet. 

The new outlet, the largest 22-carat gold store to open in Europe, will also be joined by Birmingham Mayor, Councillor Zafar Iqbal.

On X, West Midlands Roads said: "A41 Soho Road, between Rookery Road and Boulton Road. 

"Road closure scheduled for today due to the opening of the Malabar Store and Kareena Kapoor's performance. Please plan ahead."

Ms Kapoor, who is married to fellow celebrity Saif Ali Khan, is one of Bollywood's biggest names.

The 44-year-old is known for her string of iconic films, including Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Jab We Met, 3 Idiots, and Netflix hit Jaane Jaan.

The opening event will also feature a planned on-street celebration and cultural performances. The road is expected to reopen at 4pm.
