Passenger injured after concrete slab thrown onto Aston Expressway smashing car window

West Midlands Police have launched a probe into an incident where a concrete slab was thrown onto the A38M Aston Expressway, near Birmingham, damaging a car and injuring a passenger.

Officers from the West Midlands Police traffic team attended the incident on Friday, August 22, finding the significantly damaged vehicle.

A passenger who was also in the vehicle received injuries.

Now, West Midlands Police have asked anyone with information or dashcam footage relating to the incident to contact them directly, quoting reference number 20/353009/25. 

A force spokesperson said: "On the 22nd August, 2025, a concrete slab was thrown onto the A38M, causing significant damage to a vehicle and injury to a passenger.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that the victim received injuries 'not believed to be life-threatening'.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.10pm on Friday August 22, to an incident on the A38, Nechells in Birmingham. One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man who was a passenger in a car which a rock had collided with. 

"He was assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital for further assessment."
