Three fire crews attended electrical fire on Birmingham street
A road in Birmingham was closed overnight as three fire crews were called to the scene of an electrical fire.
The public were urged to 'avoid the area' around Tyburn Road in Erdington as crews worked to tackle the blaze, which was caused by electrical cables down an embankment.
In a post on X, which was posted at 10.37pm, West Midlands Fire Service said: "We have several crews in attendance at a fire on Tyburn Road, Erdington, Birmingham.
"The Road has been closed at Jarvis Way. Please avoid the area."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service on Friday, August 8 morning said: "Shortly after 8.20pm on Thursday 7 August, we responded to Tyburn Road, Erdington, Birmingham.
"Initially, three fire engines from Aston, Erdington and Ward End responded, arriving to find electrical cables on fire down an embankment.
"Firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, which was confirmed to be out shortly after 12.00am. National Grid isolated electricity to the affected cable bridge. The fire was contained to the cables.
"Tyburn Road was closed for a short time while we worked at the scene, but reopened shortly later.
"Firefighters maintained a watching brief after the fire was extinguished, leaving the scene at around 3.05am. We revisited the site shortly after 7am, confirming no hotspots remained."
