The crash happened on the A41 Warwick Road in Acocks Green just before 7am today (August 1).

Police and ambulance crews attended and found a 29-year-old man who had been riding the motorcycle.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic to the scene.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man died at the scene.

West Midlands Police said the motorcyclist’s family were being supported by specially trained officers, while the van driver was shaken but not injured.

The force also said that road closures remained in place from the junction of Fox Hollies Road to Flint Green Road while investigations continued, but had been reopened to traffic after 1.20pm.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "If you have any information, CCTV or dashcam footage from the scene around that time that could help our investigation call us on 101 quoting log number 605 of August 1.

"You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Ambulance crews arrived to find motorcyclist in a critical condition.

"They quickly began administering advanced life support and advanced trauma care to him.

“Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“The driver of the van did not require treatment.”
