'It only felt right that we celebrate one of our own' - Cadbury World unveils chocolate tribute to West Midlands Lioness Hannah Hampton

As the Lionesses get ready to defend their European title, Cadbury World is kicking off the summer of sport with a special celebration for local football star and England goalkeeper, Hannah Hampton.

Hampton, from Birmingham, started her football journey in the Midlands, having played for both Birmingham City Women and Aston Villa Women before her rise to the international sporting stage.

Now, the 24-year-old is being honoured by Cadbury World in Bournville with a unique chocolate display. The creation features a life-sized pair of goalkeeper gloves with Hannah’s name on them, along with a match ball – all made entirely from Cadbury chocolate.

The milk and white chocolate sculpture, which took 16 hours to make, stands at 30.5cm tall and 33cm wide.

Dawn Jenks, the chocolatier behind the creation, said: “It only felt right that we celebrate one of our own with something crafted right here at Cadbury World.

"It’s been a joy to create something that celebrates Hannah’s talent whilst bringing some chocolatety football cheer to the attraction.

"From the textured detail of the glove to the hand-painted chocolate football, the creation required patience, precision, and a lot of passion - everything Hannah brings to the game, too!"

"As a fellow Brummie, it means a lot to celebrate a local hero in such a unique - and tasty - way. We can’t wait for visitors this summer to share in the local pride and excitement surrounding the tournament, and cheer on Hannah and the lionesses.”

This sweet sculpture celebrates Birmingham’s very own ‘goal-den’ girl and her success on the pitch. Football fans and chocolate lovers can see the creation at Cadbury World’s Chocolate Making Zone from 30th June, as part of the summer’s sporting celebrations.

It will remain on display throughout the summer as Cadbury World joins the nation in cheering on the Lionesses. For more information, visit the Cadbury World website.
