Public warned to 'avoid area' of Birmingham after grass fire
Members of the public were warned to "avoid" an area of Birmingham following a grass fire.
Four crews responded to the incident on Coleshill Road in Hodge Hill, Birmingham at around 8pm last night (June 28).
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service wrote on X: "We have four crews in attendance at Coleshill Road, Hodge Hill, where they have responded to a large grass fire.
"Please avoid the area, where possible."
The news comes after fire chiefs said outdoor blazes were among the incidents being tackled by crews during the hot weather spell, leading to an increase in demand on emergency services.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said its crews have been working "extremely hard" to tackle a number of incidents in recent weeks, including accidental wildfires, water rescues and deliberate outdoor fires.
