Man, 41, jailed for string of shoplifting offences in Sutton Coldfield

A 41-year-old man has been jailed for three months following a string of shop thefts in Sutton Coldfield.

Dean Kightley admitted nine thefts, which saw hundreds of pounds worth of goods taken from shelves between March 2024 and February 2025, when he appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday (February 24).

In a statement following the sentencing, West Midlands Police said: "We know how frustrating shop theft is for business owners, and the wider community, and we'll always look to identify and arrest suspects.

"We carry out regular patrols - through both visible and plain clothed officers - to monitor retail areas and respond to issues. We'll continue to pursue jail terms and target those who cause harm to businesses and customers.
