Horrific Telford attempted murder featured in BBC documentary series
His victim spent 11 days in a coma and seven weeks in hospital
The case of a harrowing domestic assault in Telford that left a woman fighting for her life has appeared in a BBC crime documentary series.
BBC’s Murder 24/7 has followed West Mercia Police as they investigate the most serious crimes across the region.
The third series is currently underway, and has already revisited the brutal killing of a DPD driver in Shrewsbury.
But this week, the show has featured the attempted murder of a women in Telford at the hands of her then-partner, Lee Sargent.
Sargent was jailed for 18 years in 2024, after he carried out a ferocious attack on his victim with a meat cleaver at his home in Stirchley in August the previous year.
In the episode - available on iPlayer ahead of its Wednesday night broadcast - viewers see officers’ body‑worn footage as they arrive at the property and find the victim covered in blood following the brutal assault.
