Two new coronavirus deaths recorded in Birmingham
Two new coronavirus deaths have been reported at a health trust in Birmingham, NHS figures have shown.
The patients died in hospitals run by the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) on Wednesday.
No new deaths have been confirmed in the Black Country and Staffordshire, with the death toll for the three areas standing at 2,635.
It comes as a further 56 people died from the virus in hospitals across England, bringing the total to 30,379. The UK-wide figure is yet to be released.
A total of 1,021 have died at UHB, which runs Queen Elizabeth Hospital and others, with 292 at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.
A further 268 people have died at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, with 392 at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, and 230 patients at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
The death toll at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs Stafford's County Hospital, stands at 361.
A further 705 people have died in care homes across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
A spokesman for NHS England said: "A further 56 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 30,379.
"Patients were aged between 42 and 98 years old. All had known underlying health conditions."
