A child in Year 7 at Grace Academy Darlaston has tested positive for Covid-19.

A letter was sent to parents on Monday confirming the positive case and some students were told they may need to self isolate.

A letter sent to parents, associate principal Julie Anstey says: "We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the Year 7 bubble.

More Covid-19 coverage:

"We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

"This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child.

"Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (Covid-19) will be a mild illness.

"The school remains open and we are following strict hygiene measures. Providing your child remains well they can continue to attend school as normal. We will keep this under review. "

At the last Ofsted inspection in 2017 there were 725 pupils on the school roll.

Grace Academy Darlaston did not want to make a further comment.
