No new virus deaths reported in region
No new coronavirus deaths have been reported in the Black Country, Birmingham or Staffordshire, NHS figures show.
It marks the 11th day running that no deaths have been reported in the Black Country and Staffordshire – and the first day for Birmingham, which reported a death on Wednesday.
The total number of people who have died in the region's hospitals from coronavirus now stands at 2,562 – along with a further 698 in care homes.
It comes as the deaths in hospitals across England increased by seven to bring the total number to 29,531. The UK-wide figure has yet to be announced.
A total of 382 people have died at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals.
Elsewhere, 287 have died at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase hospitals, while 264 have died at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital.
A total of 230 have died at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Walsall Manor Hospital, while 355 people have died at the University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust, which runs County Hospital in Stafford and Royal Stoke University Hospital.
The death toll at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, the largest in the region, stands at 973. The trust runs the Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals in Birmingham.
A spokesman for NHS England said: "A further seven people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,531.
"The patients were between 77 and 90 years old and all had known underlying health conditions.
"Their families have been informed."
