Cedar Falls Care Home in Bescot cares for 32 people with dementia, helping the residents to feel at home in a warm and comfortable environment.

The home has not been left unaffected by coronavirus, suffering issues with its supply chain during lockdown which had left staff struggling to bring in enough food to cater for everyone.

It has been during this period that the Morrisons supermarket on Wallows Lane, which is just down the road from the home, stepped into help.

Since social distancing and lockdown restrictions began, staff at the supermarket have worked to deliver essential supplies to the home.

Helda Everitt, manager of Cedar Falls, spoke about the work staff at Morrisons had done to help the home.

She said: "They have given us a donation of food, including bacon, eggs, tinned food and treats for the residents like chocolates, each week since the lockdown started.

"These have all been delivered to us by members of staff who have gone above and beyond to help us.

"To get this sort of help from them means the world to us as we've not been able to get any delivery slots and we can only get so much from going into the store.

"It really shows the selfless nature of people that they're willing to help in this pandemic."

Helda said the home would continue using the supermarket after the pandemic had come to an end after the kind acts of the staff.

She said: "We had been spending upwards of £500 per week at our previous place, which is astronomical at this time.

"The support we have received from Morrisons deserves to be repaid and we would encourage everyone to use their services and contact them if they need help."
