Walsall Manor Hospital took delivery of more than 70 meals, which were donated to them by Bengal Relish, a restaurant in Willenhall.

The restaurant is currently closed to customers, but is still running a full takeway and delivery service.

Manager Shah Ali said the donations of the food to the staff at the hospital was the least they could do.

He said: "There's so many staff who are working for the NHS in the hospital, working long hours.

"We've had reports that they've been unable to do their shopping, being unable to actually have time to eat or arrange food.

"We thought that at this time, when they're in absolute crisis, that we would help them and provide free food for them, just in appreciation of the good work that they're doing."

The meals that were sent over included a selection of starters and pakoras, rice, a number of vegetarian curries and chicken bhunas, as well as Nan breads and other sundries.

Shah said that the restaurant was just happy to be to help and would continue to support the NHS in any capacity that it could.

He also said that with the restaurant and so many other services donating time and resources to help the NHS, it really showed the best of the community.

He said: "At times of crisis, it's great to just be able to to come and support those who actually do need as much help.

"We will see what we can do going forward to help and we know that other restaurants in the area are doing so as well, so it's really great to see."
