'The sense of community here is incredibly powerful' - Mayor praises lifeline Wolverhampton heart charity during visit
The Mayor of Wolverhampton has praised the work of a Wolverhampton heart care charity following a visit.
Councillor Craig Collingswood said the work of Have A Heart Wolverhampton (HAHW) was invaluable for the work it did helping people to recover and rehabilitate after heart-related issues and illnesses.
The Mayor visited the centre on Salisbury Street on Wednesday, December 17, where he met trustees from the Wolverhampton Coronary Aftercare Support Group (WCASG) and spoke with staff and service users about the charity’s impact across the city.
During the visit, the Mayor heard how the charity supports people living with heart and circulatory conditions, offering aftercare, rehabilitation activities and a welcoming community space.
Service users shared their own experiences, explaining how the group’s programmes have helped them rebuild confidence and improve both physical and mental wellbeing.

HAHW was created to take the current WCASG exercise service into the future, make it more sustainable and protect the service for current and future members, with the facility providing space for classes and independent training in the gym area.
Praising the charity’s work, Councillor Collingswood said: “Have A Heart Wolverhampton is a lifeline for so many people.
"The dedication of the team and the compassion shown here every day is truly inspiring.”
“The support offered by WCASG helps people lead healthier, more active lives.
"The sense of community here is incredibly powerful.”
A spokeswoman for WCASG said: "The Mayor’s visit was a welcome recognition of the commitment shown by staff and volunteers and highlighted the importance of continued backing for community-led health initiatives across Wolverhampton."
