Wolverhampton charity invites community to Light up a Life across December
A city palliative and bereavement support provider is inviting the community to join an annual event remembering loved ones.
Compton Care is inviting the local community to join its Light up a Life event on Sunday, December 7 at Compton Hall.
This annual gathering is an opportunity to remember and celebrate, with people encouraged to come together around the Tree of Light, with lights shining in memory of loved ones, and enjoy the seasonal activities and refreshments.
The event will feature a Remembrance Ceremony and a reflection room with photos of loved ones and a book of dedications, with people able to make a dedication to be included on the day via the charity’s website.
There will also be the opportunity to meet and chat with Compton Care’s Clinical and Bereavement Support teams and enjoy a relaxing hand massage from its Complementary Therapy team.
Clare Elwell, Fundraising Manager at Compton Care, said: “We’d love for people to come together at our annual Light up a Life event.
"The event is open to all and serves as a beautiful symbol of love, hope, and remembrance for those who attend.
"Join us to celebrate life, share memories, and support Compton Care’s vital work in the community.”
Compton Care provides specialist support to people with life limiting conditions and their families and, in December, the charity said it is expecting to be caring for more than 1,300 people across its range of services, available to those living in Wolverhampton, the Black Country, South Staffordshire and east Shropshire.
Alongside the event, the charity has launched its Light up a Life Appeal.
People are being encouraged to make a dedication in memory of a loved one and to donate to support Compton Care’s vital work supporting those in need in the local community this Christmas.
Ms Elwell said: “We couldn’t do what we do without the generosity of the local community, and we would like to thank everyone who is able to make a donation for helping us to be there for our patients and their loved ones when they need us most.”
The Light up a Life event is being held at Compton Hall between 12.30pm and 2.30pm on December 7.
