The event at Wednesbury Town Hall from 10am to 2.30pm, will feature a lively market place, information sessions, and well-being activities designed to help unpaid carers understand their rights, access support, and connect with local services.

Sandwell Carers Service is a partnership between the borough council and not-for-profit organisation Forward Carers, and the day aims to shine a spotlight on the vital contribution of unpaid carers and ensures they are aware of their entitlements to help and recognition.

A similar event for carers in Walsall will be held at the Manor Hospital at the same time, with free information and advice about the support available.

For carers in the Dudley area, there will be events in Halesowen and Kingswinford next week.

On Tuesday (November 18), the Brett Young Centre in Old Hawne Lane, Halesowen, will host an event aimed at both adult and young carers between 10am and 2pm. Then on Wednesday (19) there will be an evening event aimed at young carers, which will be held at The Source Youth Centre in Barnett Lane, Kingswinford, from 6pm to 8pm.

Also on Wednesday (19) there will be an event at Birmingham Carers Hub, featuring a market place:and dementia bus, at Perry Hall Church, between 10am and 2pm.

Forward Carers’ programme manager Jenny Douglas said: “We’re delighted to bring Carers Rights Day to Sandwell for the first time under Forward Carers.

"This event is about celebrating the incredible work of unpaid carers and making sure they know their rights, where to get help, and how to look after their own well-being.

"Sandwell’s carers community has a huge amount to offer, and we’re proud to stand alongside them.”
