Man rushed to hospital with 'serious' head injuries after being hit by car in Rowley Regis

A man was taken to hospital with head injuries after being hit by a car on a Rowley Regis street.

The collision, which involved a car and a pedestrian, happened at around 5.30pm on Thursday evening at the junction of Throne Road and Oldbury Road in Rowley Regis, with police and ambulance crews called to the scene.

The man was treated at the scene for injuries not thought to be life-changing and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, while the road was closed to traffic while emergency services crews worked.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of Throne Road and Oldbury Road in Rowley Regis, at around 5.30pm yesterday.

"The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with head injuries, which thankfully are not thought to be life changing.

"The driver remained at the scene to speak to officers.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian at the junction of Throne Road and Oldbury Road at 5.23pm yesterday.

"One ambulance, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor with a Critical Care Paramedic and a HART paramedic attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian.

"He was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham."
