Paramedics unable to save patient after being called to 'medical emergency' in Cannock
A man has died despite the best efforts of paramedics who were called to a 'medical emergency' in Cannock town centre.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of a medical emergency on Church Street on Wednesday morning.
Two ambulances were sent to the scene and discovered a male patient, but despite their best efforts, it was found that nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed as dead at the scene.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a medical emergency on Church Street in Cannock at 10.50am, with two ambulances attending the scene.
"On arrival, we discovered one patient.
"Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene."
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called to Church Street, Cannock, shortly before 11am on Wednesday morning following reports of a sudden death.
"Officers went to the scene alongside colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.
"Sadly, the body a man was found at the scene.
"Officers carried out enquiries to understand more about the circumstances surrounding the death, but we don’t believe there to be any suspicious circumstances.
"A file will be prepared for HM Coroner in due course."
