Georgia Runham had been looking at what she thought was a bright future when, aged just 20-years-old, she received the keys to her own beauty salon Georgia Grace Beauty Salon on North Street in Cannock in December last year.

However, she said she had been feeling unwell at the time and had done so for several months beforehand and had undergone a FIT test on December 6, with her mother Trudy Gittins having persuaded Georgia's GP to refer her for the test.

It was on December 20 that Georgia, who is now 21, received the news that she had bowel cancer, a diagnosis she said had been devastating and scary for her and her whole family.

She said: "We were just all devastated and really scared and I just didn't know what would happen at that point.

"I had just opened the salon at the time and I did find that it was a bit of a distraction from what was going on, but it really was a dark time."

In the ensuing months, Georgia would have a 50mm tumour removed on January 3 and then went through eight rounds of chemotherapy, an experience her mum Trudy said she wished that no one should ever have to go through.
