More than 4,000 patients could be affected as Wolverhampton medical practice considers 'potential relocation'
A Wolverhampton medical practice could relocate under new plans.
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust has announced the "potential relocation" of its Coalway Road Surgery, on Coalway Road, Wolverhampton.
It would see the service relocate to Warstone Health Centre, on Pinfold Grove, 0.7 miles away.
The proposed move is due to the Coalway Road address needing 'significant work', and the potential for better services at the new location.
Around 4,726 patients are set to be affected by the potential move, but the trust has said the Warstones site will offer improved disabled services, such as dedicated parking bays and disabled toilets.
A public meeting will take place at the Coalway Road Surgery at 5pm on Monday, August 18, where current patients and members of the community can get more information and raise their concerns.
Laura Harper, group manager for the trust's primary care network, said: "We want to provide our communities with improved services from a location that is better equipped for providing modern healthcare and are keen to hear their views.
"The proposed move would not affect access to appointments as Total Triage, which ensures patients requiring same-day appointments are prioritised by our GPs, would still be in place.
“There would also be no reduction in the number of healthcare professionals available to meet our patients’ needs."
As well as dedicated disabled parking bays and disabled toilets, the Warstones site also offers hearing loops, entrance ramps, and phlebotomy and anti-coagulant services on site.
The group has said that the current team at the Coalway Road Surgery would also relocate to the Warstones Health Centre, so patients can still see 'familiar faces' when they attend their appointments.
A survey is currently under way. Patients can weigh in on the potential relocation here.
