Fundraiser launched to raise £16,000 for Wolverhampton girl with cerebral palsy

Tia-Louise Jones, aged seven, was born with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and was diagnosed a year later.

The youngster's condition means she suffers from epilepsy, has muscle spasms and can't speak or chew – and often grinds her teeth.

Now her mother, Elizabeth Jones, has asked people to come forward to raise the funds to help her daughter receive the Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy treatment.

The operation will help relax the Penn Hall School pupil's muscles and keep her pain free.

It will take place at Alder Hey Liverpool, after a friend's recommendation.

Ms Jones, from Penn, said: "The operation is in Liverpool and it's to relax her muscles so she's not in any pain.

"We're hoping for the best.

"We've got a fundraising page which has got £2,700 on it and we're doing raffles and stuff, so we're hoping we can just raise it.

"She can't talk so I don't really know how she's feeling, but she grits her teeth a lot which shows she's in pain.

"We're hoping it stops that and anything else that comes from it is a bonus."

The 25-year-old said Tia needs the treatment "as soon as possible" due to her muscles developing.

"It's very emotional and we need it as soon as possible for her because the more she grows, her muscles will grow and they will get tighter and tighter.

"I want her to be pain free.

"They have had some clinical trials and of 100 per cent of people said its improved their quality of life."

But despite the youngster having the condition, Tia-Louise loves to dance.

"She dances on her knees in the house – any music she loves to dance to," her mother said.

"She can dance on her own but she wants to get up on her feet as well – but she can't walk.

"Her favourite band is Little Mix but her favourite song is Mr Brightside by The Killers."
