Storm Boelo: Caution urged amid flood alert for the River Severn in Shropshire
Salopians urged to take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
A flood alert has been issued for the River Severn for tonight going into tomorrow amid Storm Boelo.
Salopians have been urged to take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
The alert, published on the Government’s flood checker service, says: “Flooding is possible on Sunday 25 October into Monday 26 October.
“Flooding may affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Shrewsbury to Upper Arley. Locations that may be affected are White Abbey, Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth.
“River Severn bankfull at White Abbey, floodplain may be filling at Hayes Basin.”
The Crew Green gauge is expected to peak between 5.3m and 5.7m.
Currently, river levels are not forecast to exceed flood alert threshold levels at any other Shropshire gauge locations.
“Additional forecast rainfall may impact river levels further within this area,” the flood checker site also said. “We are closely monitoring the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.”
