Floodwater on A41 slows traffic in and out of Wolverhampton after heavy rain overnight

Flooding on the A41 has slowed traffic in and out of Wolverhampton.

Part of the A41 Holyhead Road/Wergs Road near Tettenhall is partially flooded today (March 13) after heavy rainfall last night.

The affected section is southeast of the crossroads with Wrottesley Park Road/Heath House Lane, near the River Penk.

Some vehicles have been able to drive through the standing water at reduced speed while other drivers have turned back.

The AA said the issue had first been reported at 7.12am today.

It follows flooding in Crankhall Lane, in Wednesbury, after a manhole cracked last night.

One person who works in the area, who did not want to be named, said: "[The manhole] is cracked so it opens out. The plate isn't straight.

"It's got an opening so it gets like that every time there's a lot of rain. It happens all the time."
