Vivid and surreal: Birmingham sky turns pink during Storm Goretti - find out why
There was a vivid and surreal sight for many across Birmingham during the night as the skies turned pink.
Thousands of households saw the lurid and dazzling pink colouring in the night sky as Storm Goretti hit the region. bringing large amounts of snow and wind.
Several residents had posted pictures on social media showing the scene across Birmingham, which had left many puzzled and questioning why the sky had turned that colour.
BBC weather presenter Simon King told Sky News that cloud cover and falling snow meant the sky could be more reflective.

He said: "So at night it's quite common to have that whitish glow when it's snowing and you've got street lights.
"In this case, the mystery is the source of the light."
There was some speculation that grow lights warming the pitch at Birmingham City's stadium may have caused the effect, mixing with the snow to cause the effect.
The snow had stopped in Birmingham and the surrounding area by 9am this morning, with an amber weather warning being lifted soon afterwards.
