Windy weather hits the West Midlands as Storm Bram hits the UK with wind gusts of up to 41mph forecast for Wolverhampton
Storm Bram has arrived in the West Midlands with wind gusts expected to peak at 41mph at 3pm today (Tuesday, December 9).
The region has escaped weather warnings which are in place around Wales, Scotland and the south west of England.
But there are a series of flood warnings in place for Wolverhampton, Halesowen and Bewdley. Full details here: food alerts.
However heavy rain and wind are swirling around the region with Birmingham Airport warning passengers to check flights ahead of flying due to potential delays and cancellations.
Ferry services and trains have also been hit by the winds across the country as wind gusts reach up to 90mph in some parts.
Network Rail Scotland said that some train services will be suspended later in the day due to the conditions.
Speed restrictions will also be in place on many other routes across Scotland as the worst of the weather moves in.
Great Western Railway also closed the line between Swindon and Bristol Parkway due to the forecast severe weather.
Approximately 22,000 homes, farms and businesses are without power across the Republic of Ireland as Storm Bram brought “very dangerous” winds to the island.
The National Grid’s website showed power cuts affecting areas of Wales, south-west England and the Midlands, including 108 properties without power in Wolverhampton.

As the wind gusts peak to 41mph at 3pm, the likelihood of rain also diminishes from 70% to 30% by 4pm - reducing to less than 5% by 6pm.

Cloud and rain will eventually move eastwards leaving a mostly clear night with patchy cloud. Wind easing but will remain blustery, especially on higher ground. Staying very mild for December. Minimum temperature 8 °C.
Wednesday:
A much brighter day with sunny spells across the region. Some isolated showers for the west, but easing as they track eastwards. Winds remain breezy throughout but cooler than Tuesday. Maximum temperature 11 °C.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Turning cloudier again on Thursday but staying mostly dry. Showers moving in overnight with sunshine and showers to end the week. Wet and windy again for Saturday. Staying mild.
