Halesowen petrol station kiosk hit by car leaving man injured

A 4x4 slammed into the front of a petrol station in Halesowen leaving one bystander needing hospital treatment.

The smash happened just after 11am at the ELF service station on Bromsgrove Road opposite McDonald's.

One man, aged in his 20s, who was in the station's shop at the time, was injured.

He was taken to Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital to be treated for back pain.

Eight firefighters from Haden Cross station attended the scene.

A service station employee said he had a lucky escape as he was filling up the freezer by the door when the Range Rover crashed through the door.

"I didn't know what was happening," said the worker, who asked to remain anonymous.

"A man next to me was injured and we called for the paramedics.

"He was taken away on a stretcher with back and shoulder pain.

"I wasn't injured. The driver was in shock but not injured."

The services was briefly closed while emergency services were at the scene but reopened shortly afterwards.

The damaged door was cordoned off this afternoon.

Jamie Arrowsmith, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: "A male in his 20s was in the shop at the time of the crash and he was treated for back pain and remained conscious."
